Kala Azar
Kala azar, also known as visceral leishmaniasis, is characterized by long-term irregular fever, swelling spleen and liver, severe weight loss, anemia and decreased number of white blood cell and blood platelet. During the recent 6 years, the epidemic situation of visceral leishmaniasis is sporadic in six provinces in the west (Xinjiang, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Shanxi and Sichuan) and the number of new cases reached 400 each year, among which case number of Xinjiang, Gansu and Sichuan occupied about ninety percent of total number.
This database of visceral leishmaniasis included all data since the initiation of network reporting system, which are number of cases, incidence, death cases and mortality by region, age group, profession and disease entity.
